The Seeley Lake Fire District is governed by an elected board voted on by the citizens of the tax district of Missoula county. The board consist of five trustees, chairman of the board, vice chairman, secretary, and two trustee members. Trustees are elected for staggered 3 year terms. The trustees have full authority over all fire district business and management thereof. The Chief of the department and District Administrator report directly to the Chairman of the board. The District Administrator oversees all internal business and office operations.
The Chief Officer positions are Chief of the Department, and Deputy Chief of the Department. These positions oversee and are responsible for all fire, rescue and medical operations (QRU, Quick Response Unit), along with all other associated tasks in governing the operations set forth.
Fire officer's include an Assistant Chief, Captain (training officer), and Lieutenant (equipment officer).
Medical officer's include an Assistant Chief, 2 Captain's (training officer and equipment officer), and Lieutenant (assistant equipment officer)
Other Officer positions include a Safety officer, EMS coordinator and Chaplain.
Non officer positions include a Secretary and Treasurer respective to their units.
Department operations include fire district fire protection, wild land fire suppression, initial attack, rescue operations, vehicle extrication, and limited search and rescue. Ambulance service is also provided at the basic life support level with advanced life support endorsements.
The department has 3-4 paid staff and approximately 40 volunteers of which most are trained in firefighting and approximately 15 are Registered Emergency Medical Technicians, NREMT's. Some are authorized to carry extensive medical equipment in their personal vehicles for immediate response to the scenes. This greatly enhances reduce on scene times providing medical attention and emergency life support.
Apparatus includes 5 engines/water tenders, Ambulance, Rescue truck, command operations vehicle, and structure protection equipment trailer.
The Seeley
Lake Fire District is currently looking at a possible building
expansion or building a larger station. Various options are being
looked into. |
